ATL Board Elects Jannine Miller as Executive Director

Appointment will be effective January 16, 2023

Atlanta, GA- Today the Board of Directors of the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority (ATL) elected Jannine Miller as Executive Director, effective January 16, 2023.

Jannine Miller is known as a leader in the transportation industry. Currently she is the Director of Planning at the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). She was appointed to the position by Governor Brian Kemp and confirmed with bi-partisan approval of the General Assembly’s Transportation Committees. Prior to GDOT, she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Transportation under former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao advancing policy and program improvements across modes, including the Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Highway Administration, the Build America Bureau, and the Maritime Administration.

In her more than two-decade career in the public and private sectors, Ms. Miller has also served in multiple other leadership, management, finance, policy, and planning roles. This includes serving as Senior Advisor to the U.S. Agriculture Secretary, the former Executive Director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, the Transportation Policy Advisor for the Governor’s Office, Senior Transportation Planner with the Atlanta Regional Commission, Budget & Policy Analyst at the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget, the Logistics Center Director for the Department of Economic Development and as an ex-Officio Board Member at the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.

Ms. Miller has received numerous recognitions including, “Notable Georgian” and one of the state’s “Top 40 Under 40 – Best and Brightest” by Georgia Trend Magazine, “Champion for
Transportation” by the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts and honored as one of the 100 Most Influential in Georgia Engineering by Georgia ACEC. She is also named as an inventor on two patents that optimize operations of public transportation infrastructure.

Ms. Miller holds a Master of Business Administration in Global Commerce from Georgia Tech, as well as a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Nutrition from Georgia State University.

Ms. Miller was also appointed as Executive Director of the State Road and Tollway Authority and elected to serve as Executive Director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority which occurred on January 4th and 5th respectively by both Boards at their Board meetings.

 

About the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority

The ATL was created by the Georgia General Assembly during the 2018 legislative session to provide coordinated transit planning and funding for the metro Atlanta region. The ATL is responsible for developing the ATL Regional Transit Plan, as well as identifying and prioritizing the projects and initiatives required to develop region-wide transit. The ATL is also charged with creating a unified regional transit system brand. Effective July 1, 2020, the ATL was legislatively authorized to oversee the state’s Xpress regional commuter transit system and the Atlanta region’s vanpool system. The population of metro Atlanta is growing rapidly and projected to add an additional 2.5 million residents by 2040. The ATL is a critical step towards more efficient and effective transit and mobility in the region.
